Meet Alec & Kevin
We are Alec, 33, and Kevin, 31, a Midwestern couple from Michigan. Amazingly, we grew up just 30 minutes apart—Alec being born in Ypsilanti, Michigan bouncing between Toledo, Ohio, and Adrian, Michigan, and Kevin being born in Toledo, Ohio grew up in the nearby Temperance, Michigan.
Family is the heart of our world. Alec grew up in a home full of love, thanks to his stay-at-home mom, Jill, and his late father, John, who was a sanitarian. Alec's sister, Grace, and her husband, Shaun, add to the family joy. When Alec was an adult, his mom remarried, welcoming stepfather Mark into the family. On Kevin's side, his mom, Sirri, worked part-time to focus on raising him and his older brothers, Craig and Brian. His dad, Ted, a pattern maker, also instilled strong family values. Together, our families taught us about love, support, and the importance of being there for each other—lessons we're eager to pass on.
Education played diverse roles for us. Alec was into High School Choir and Church Youth Group, despite some health-related absences. Kevin was in theatre, marching band, and volunteered as a Zoo Teen at the Toledo Zoo. Family vacation highlights include Alec’s trips to see his snowbird grandparents in Florida, and Kevin’s Florida trips and a cruise to Cuba.
For higher ed, we both stayed in Michigan. Alec went to Eastern Michigan University, majoring in Hospitality Management, and Kevin attended Central Michigan University, focusing on Theatre Technology. Alec found lifelong friends through residence life and catering work. Kevin bonded with friends in the Marching Chips and studied abroad in Europe.
Professionally, Alec started as an Accounting Manager in Toledo, where Alec and Kevin met and married. He’s now an HR and Accounting Manager in Metro Detroit. Kevin worked in Las Vegas in event audio-visual production before returning to Detroit as a Technical Director for an opera company; he's now a Facilities Manager for a sports team.
Alec's the cook, but we both love more than just pizza and tacos. Alec’s downtime involves breweries, camping, and travel research, while Kevin’s all about Broadway and sports. On bad days, Alec hits up Starbucks and hangs with our dog, Winona. Kevin walks Winona and listens to audiobooks. Yep, Winona’s our magic mood-lifter.
Our honeymoon in Australia and New Zealand was epic. Alec's eyeing Alaska for future travel; Kevin's thinking Europe or a Norwegian Fjord Cruise.
To wrap it up, we're a down-to-earth couple with a zest for life, each with our own interests but unified in our core values—especially when it comes to family. We're eager to share our love, values, and adventures with a child. Our dog Winona is ready to become a big sister, and we can't wait to meet the courageous birth mom who'll make our dream of family complete.
